EmergiTech Announces Interoperability with PowerPhone’s CACH Call Handling Software

Development Underscores Importance of Technology Compatibility in Emergency Communications Software

Columbus, OH and Madison, CT – August 3, 2010 – Leading Public Safety software firm, EmergiTech, Inc. and PowerPhone, a leading provider of 911 call taking systems, announced the availability of application integration between their respective Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Computer Aided Call Handling (CACH) systems. The integrated solution is designed to help 911 agencies streamline their call taking and dispatch functions, resulting in a more efficient delivery of emergency services

EmergiTech (www.emergitech.com) is a premier provider of public safety solutions, with over 26 years experience creating computer aided dispatch, records management systems, and mobile data solutions. The company’s INTERCad™helps public safety agencies of all sizes manage incident information with modules for CAD, Field Reporting, Records Management, and more.

PowerPhone’s CACH (Computer Aided Call Handling) is designed to simplify and standardize the 911 information gathering process. Appropriate Police/Fire/EMS protocols and pre arrival instructions are presented dynamically as a call proceeds.  Based on answers to questions asked, CACH generates an objective recommendation of resources needed and their priority.

With the connection to INTERCad, CACH is able to pass objective response recommendations on to the dispatcher, as well as append specific call details directly to the incident record. This integration will allow 911 call takers to gather and relay scene specific information to responders prior to their arrival, helping to better ensure both victim and responder safety.

"Technology has played an important role in public safety for years, but it can also get in the ways of a prompt and appropriate response if it doesn’t work right,”  said Eric Esfahanian, PowerPhone’s VP of Sales and Marketing. “The interoperability of EmergiTech’s INTERCad to PowerPhone’s CACH is a very important milestone and a sign to our mutual customers that the partners they’ve chosen are committed to working together to improve dispatch operations, and the standard of care in the communities they serve.”

"We are committed to providing the most value to our clients by developing application interoperability with best in class solutions,” said Chuck Brady, Director of Product Planning.  "Through the integration of the two applications, our clients will benefit from a seamless, bi-directional flow of information, eliminating redundancy and creating a more effective and efficient response to calls for service.”

PowerPhone (Booth #1439) and EmergiTech (Booth #418) will be at the APCO Annual Conference & Expo in Houston TX, August 1-4, 2010.

Perry County Commissioners Partner with EmergiTech for E9-1-1 and Computer Aided Dispatch Software

New Lexington, OH—When the Perry County Commissioners needed to upgrade their legacy 911 system, they set in motion an extensive search for a public safety software vendor that included reviewing quotes from five (5) different vendors.  The importance of the project steered the commissioners toward an agreement with EmergiTech, Inc.    The initial goal of the search was to provide the county with an Enhanced 9-1-1 system.  As the project progressed it became apparent that not only did the 911 system require upgrading in order to become Phase II compliant (cell phone location able) but a new mapping system and computer aided dispatch software system were necessary.  Faced with a tight county budget and a finite state wireless fund, EmergiTech, Inc. designed a new solution, within budget, that would not only serve the Perry County Sheriff’s department but also would provide Enhanced 911 service to the New Lexington Police Department.  Both agencies are also excited about the new mapping and computer-aided dispatch systems.

The County’s new Computer Aided Dispatch and 9-1-1 Systems will provide dispatchers with immediate access to historical data about persons, places and vehicles in addition to other important information.  The integration among the systems at each agency will allow dispatchers at either site to relay this key data to first responders, improving response effectiveness, response times and first responder safety.  Coupled with the Phase II wireless upgrade, call location will be provided through the new e9-1-1 system.  These upgrades will place the county at the forefront of public safety communications technology, helping to improve the safety of Perry County citizens.

The new 911 system will also position the county to be ready for the next generation of 911 call delivery or NG911.  NG911 will eventually allow 911 callers to communicate with dispatchers and call takers through a variety of available mobile technology methods including text messages.  Callers will also be able to send photographs and possibly video from properly equipped mobile devices.  While NG911 is still a future consideration, EmergiTech assured county commissioners that this new 911 system will be configured and ready for NG911 when the 911 Network is.

About Perry County 911
Perry County 911/EMA provides public safety and law enforcement communication and emergency 911 services for a population in excess of 35,000 citizens.  Headed by EMA Director Rita Spicer, the agency oversees all 911 communications in the county.
